Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada, and is now American. Over 20 albums have been released by her. Her music is classified as folk-rock and alternative rock although it also has influences from punk funk hip music and jazz. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as a feminist icon, and Grammy award-winning musician is thought to be the pioneer in DIY music. She was among the very first musicians to start the label she created in the year 90. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian heritage and her mother was born in Montreal. Ani diFranco was the composer and singer of the song 32 Flavors. It is featured on the album Not a Pretty Girl by Ani DiFranco, released in 1996. Another version of the track is included on the movie soundtrack of 1999's Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it became clear that she'd scheduled a three-day conference at the Louisiana plantation. The workshop was cancelled, however, she did not express any regret.
